Our first stop yesterday, was not accidental, though. We took a taxi to the Pitti Palace, ducal home of the Medici. For a change, we took the audio tour, and were glad to have done so - there is so much history as well as art in these rooms. No Kodak moments were allowed inside - probably just as well, as there is no way the splendor and oppulence on all the walls and ceilings - and floors - would have translated. Hank was particularly taken with the marble and inlaid tables and other furniture, as was I.
We could, and did, take pictures in the gardens, though.
After the morning at the Pitti Palace, we found the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine, with a beautiful Brancacci Chapel while we were still on the south side of the Arno River, and ultimately crossed the river on the Ponte Vecchio.
